Re: Is this herpes?

If it is not itchy or painful it probably isn't herpes.

Re: Is this herpes?

Thank you Dr Tan

What should I do?

It doesn't look as serious as those pictures on Google Images...

There are only a few bumps, and they are much smaller than the big ones seen on Google Images...

Will it get worse and worse?

Hi Dr Tan, is it true that MCV is often transmitted together with other STDs? Meaning I need to check for the usual STDs (e.g. HIV, Syphilis etc) if I kena MCV?

Is there a good chance of this multiple transmission really happening? My last STD check up was not that long ago so don't want to keep checking if possible

Re: Is this herpes?

MCV is a contagious skin virus. It is transmitted via skin to skin contact as well as via sharing fomites like towels.

It is self resolving. i.e. even without treatment it will go away by itself. But this usually takes 6 months or more.

MCV lesions can get bigger and more multiple especially in people with weak immune systems.

There are many treatments available for MCV from excision to creams to cryotherapy.

As with all STIs, diagnosing one mandates screening for others.

Please do not take this as a diagnosis or medical advice. You should still go see a Doctor.

Go see the doctor and get checked. Although it isn't that serious, might increase your risk of catching other things. Take care!

Re: Is this herpes?

Have seen the doctor, confirmed MCV

He did needle prick and express to squeeze out the centre and then liquid nitrogen to freeze

He treated maybe 6 spots but after I went home I noticed about 8 more spots that were not treated (less noticeable)

he said that don't need to hit all, just enough to trigger a body immune response

But the other 8 spots that he didn't treat aren't going away (maybe some are new since I saw him a few days ago)

Anyone has experience dealing with MCV? What should I do? Really want to get rid of this ASAP

Re: Is this herpes?

Should I bother contacting the girl who passed me MCV to let her know?

Really regret it. She had fats in all the wrong places, was terrible in bed, wasn't even tight etc

Never again

Re: Is this herpes?

Hi Dr Tan, I saw my regular derm and he did cryotherapy twice.

He didn't seem in favour of creams or pills. He said MCV is not as stubborn as HPV warts, so no need. He also said there's nothing else that can be done to speed up the recovery so that I can have sex again soon

Since you mentioned creams, is this something that you regularly prescribe for MCV? Does it really help to quickly get rid of remaining spots or prevent new ones from forming if already doing freezing?

Also is it necessary to make sure every single spot disappears before having unprotected sex again? There are some that are so tiny that they cannot be seen with the naked eye, have to use magnifying glass with light, and even then they are very faint

Thank you
