The PAP’s definition of “right” politics: • Always be ready to fix the opposition • Avoid meaningful debates, stage wayangs to fool voters • Appoint yes-men into Parliament • Surround yourself with sycophants, cronies and overpaid army “generals” and “admirals” • Occasionally whack some young people to teach others a lesson, to silence or intimidate them • Hide statistics/information from the people • Surreptitiously flood the country with foreigners without authorisation from voters • Abdicate state responsibility for taking care of the poor and elderly • Let males become MPs who have not served NS • low productivity of Singapore economy • low birth rate which started from LKY’s “Stop at 2” policy • depressed local wages • failing to plan for the many foreigners it allowed into Singapore • shortage, “shrinking” and high cost of public housing • shortage of public buses and MRT trains • shortage of hospitals, doctors and nursing homes • shortage of teachers and places in schools for Singaporeans • gave foreigners a big advantage over Singaporeans in job market • shortage of jobs for Singaporeans • foreigners taking jobs away from Singaporeans • frequent breakdowns of MRT trains • overcrowded public transport (buses and MRT trains) • bailout of public transport (failed privatisation) • frequent 50-year “ponding” • high cost of public housing (price doubled over the last 5 years) • high inflation (Singapore now most expensive Asian city) • high cost of education and healthcare • high cost of electricity (failed privatisation) • poor air quality as per WHO Air Quality Guidelines • depleted CPF accounts after buying “affordable” HDB flats • many CPF accounts below CPF Minimum Sum • massive (billions) losses of taxpayers’ money by Temasek / GIC • wasteful purchases by Government agencies like NParks • made Singapore a “tuition nation” • wages lagging behind increase in the cost of housing, education, healthcare and transport • failing to provide Singaporeans with Swiss Standard of Living as promised by PAP • NSF still dying during training • AIM scandal showed PAP corruption • PAP censoring social media and Internet • PAP manipulating PSI reading to report lower readings --Thoughts of a Cynical Investor *The author blogs at http://atans1.wordpress.com/ Click here to view the whole thread at www.sammyboy.com. |
